We’re looking for a driven and customer-focused Sales Manager to help us grow our presence and performance across northern NZ.
As the Auckland Sales Manager, you’ll be at the frontline of our growth strategy — You’ll coach, mentor and develop the Auckland Sales Team ensuring the creation of new business opportunities while nurturing and expanding existing client relationships.
In this role, you will:
- Strategic sales planning: Monitor and analyse market trends and competitor activity within specified market segments to identify contacts, prospects and opportunities.
- Deliver winning proposals: Review and approve proposals and contract terms for local accounts.
- Coach, develop and mentor: Weekly coaching of sales team through attending customer visits, one-to-one coaching sessions to build skills in planning account strategies, proposal development, negotiation and service delivery.
- Bring insights to life: Leverage your understanding of customer needs to offer innovation, technical support, and value engineering ideas that boost customer success — and ours.
- Support company strategy: Identify and manage stakeholders and decision makers within Opal and customer operations.

We're looking for a proactive, energetic individual with a passion for leadership and building strong business relationships.
Ideally, you will have:
- Proven Sale Management ability, including outstanding negotiation skills, persuasive ability and excellent communication skills
- Expert product and industry knowledge, coupled with the ability to deal with customers at all levels and translate their needs into a complete solution
- Management, mentoring, leadership, business acumen, account and reporting skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at every level — from the warehouse to the boardroom.
- Knowledge of the fibre packaging or distribution industry in New Zealand or globally (a plus, not a must).
- Speed and sense of urgency in decision making
