Opal Packaging New Zealand is looking for a Regional HR Manager who can roll up their sleeves, build strong relationships across a multicultural workforce, and partner with operational leaders to create safe, engaged, high‑performing teams.

This role will be based at our Wiri manufacturing site and also require travel across Hastings & Christchurch.

This HR leadership opportunity will be a hands on, high impact, fast‑paced role supporting multiple manufacturing sites. You’ll work closely with New Zealand Management teams across different sites, providing practical HR support around performance, workforce planning, ER/IR, well-being, and organisational change.

A sense of humour, resilience, and the ability to navigate a dynamic, unionised environment will set you up for success.

What you’ll be doing

• Partnering with leaders across manufacturing sites to deliver end‑to‑end HR support
• Coaching leaders and building capability across a diverse, multicultural workforce
• Supporting ER/IR matters in collaboration with Workplace Relations
• Driving well-being, engagement, and people‑focused initiatives
• Ensuring strong governance, compliance, and consistent HR practices
• Supporting organisational development, talent, and capability programs

What you’ll bring

• Senior HR generalist or HR business partnering experience in an operational or manufacturing environment
• Strong ER/IR capability and confidence managing complex issues
• Experience working with multicultural teams and building inclusive workplaces
• A practical, down‑to‑earth style with a good sense of humour
• A genuine commitment to employee well-being and safe work practices
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple sites
