Discover the Opportunity Safety & Compliance Manager – Manufacturing

Reporting to the Operations Manager for Opal Cartons Botany, you will work with the Cartons Leadership Team and Operations Managers to set business strategy around each key discipline (Health, Safety and Environment) to embed a proactive safety culture.

 You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Develop, initiate and/or coordinate the key internal initiatives within this strategic framework for each key discipline to provide continual steps towards proactive safety culture.
  • Work with Business Systems and key team members to execute site initiatives within the strategic framework for each key discipline.
  • Identify, source/develop and deliver/coordinate the training and associated activities necessary to deliver all Cartons HSE strategies.
  • Actively participate in the investigation of incidents, workplace accidents and injuries, & ensure investigations are of a high standard.
  • Work with Business Systems team members, site leaders, company doctors, physiotherapists and return to work contractors to manage any Work Cover issues and Injury Management cases.

  • Preferably a degree / Diploma or equivalent in Safety, Engineering, Science or similar discipline, or equivalent business systems experience.
  • Equivalent Packaging Industry/ Manufacturing experience.
  • Return to work co-ordinator experience
  • Skills/Knowledge which would be highly considered but not mandatory are; Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, Risk Assessments, Work Cover - RTW, Auditing and Structured Problem Solving.
  • Experience in administration and business systems
