We have a fantastic newly created opportunity to join Opal as the General Manager Cartons Australia, based in Sydney.

This is a key leadership role for us within the Opal Cartons business, managing around 200 team members across 2 manufacturing sites in Sydney and Adelaide.

The focus areas for this role will be to successfully deliver on the establishment of a greenfield manufacturing site in Sydney, achieving mid-term P&L goals, continuing to champion a customer first mindset to achieve continuous sales growth, whilst managing the day-to-day running and safety of the business.

Key to success in this role will be:

• Continuing to build upon the Cartons Australia strategy and expand our market share through our customer centric approach, outstanding service, quality product and great people
• Leading our people with Opal Values front of mind, with a key focus on a positive safety culture, behaviour and outcomes
• Equipping the business with the capability to fully utilise its strengths in manufacturing and customer centricity

Specifically, for this role, we expect you will have;

• Relevant tertiary qualification, (e.g. finance/accounting, business, engineering, marketing) or a proven and demonstratable track record in these areas and a commitment to learning and personal development
• The capability, drive and energy to take a great business and make it even greater by ‘leading from the front’ through modelling of appropriate behaviours and commitment to the Opal values
• General management experience in a geographically dispersed and customer focused manufacturing, warehousing and distribution B2B business, understanding the key metrics and the levers that can be pulled to achieve targets
• A successful track record in sales and experience developing a strong customer service culture with emphasis on safety, entrepreneurial selling, service excellence, talent development, product leadership and innovation and the consistent achievement of agreed financial objectives
• Solid experience working within a manufacturing environment, understanding the key metrics and the levers that can be pulled to achieve targets
