Opal Australian Paper is an industry-leading paper and packaging business. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Process Engineer (Power & Recovery) to join us at the historic Maryvale paper mill!

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Provide sound technical advice and support whilst working in a team environment with production, engineering and maintenance personnel
• Identify opportunities for improvement & scoping the projects involved - with key focusses on areas such as cost saving, improving efficiency, environmental impacts and safety
• Implementing the improvements and (where applicable) reviewing data to measure effectiveness of the solution used
• Perform root cause analysis on relevant systems & procedures
• Collaborating with internal teams (such as operators & maintenance teams) to assist in the identification and implementation of improvements

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

• A Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (this is required)
• Experience identifying and implementing improvements across industrial sites
• Strong two-way communication skills – ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• A process focussed mindset & the ability to work autonomously
• Experience in using PARCview (or similar data analysis tools/ systems) to identify trends
• A continuous improvement and safety-centric mindset
• Intermediate (or above) Microsoft Excel skills
