The Opal Australian Paper Division is the home of Reflex and is a leading employer in the beautiful Latrobe Valley.   With over 850 team members on site, the Maryvale Paper Mill is the largest manufacturing plant in the Opal portfolio.     

 

We have an exciting opportunity available to join our Maryvale Paper Mill Environment Team as a Senior Environment Co-ordinator. This is a varied and interesting role that works across ground water, landfill and air emissions monitoring where you’ll be part of a supportive team that works on a broad range of environmental improvement projects.

 

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

 

  • Liaising with stakeholders across different teams in operations, environment, engineering to implement environment programs, plans and recommendations
  • Providing assistance to the environment group with internal and external audits and environment reporting as per our annual environment plan
  • Working with the environment team and manager to look at opportunities for ongoing improvements
  • Working closely with site operations staff to provide technical environment advice and ensure a focus on behaviours that align with positive future outcomes

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;

 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Environmental Science or Environmental Management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an Environmental Management role
  • Ideally some experience working within the manufacturing industry
  • Good working knowledge of the new VIC EPA legislation
  • The ability to work well in a team and strong communication skills
  • Effective influencing skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people and achieve behavioural change
  • A continuous improvement focus
