We have a new opportunity available for a Health and Safety Business Partner to join the Opal Australian Paper business at our Maryvale Paper Mill.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager the primary objective of this position is to support the implementation of the Health & Safety programs at the site. Whilst reporting lines are direct within the Health & Safety team, critical dotted line relationships exist with the Mill Manager, Technical GM and other senior leadership team members. Operations Managers, shift managers and Superintendents in the aligned portfolio are also critical stakeholders.

You will be responsible for driving the implementation of Health & Safety policy, systems and procedures and monitoring compliance. The role monitors compliance ensuring that recommendations are reviewed and implemented with site management and provides advice and support in accordance with the relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation and Opal standards.

Critical to the role is the ability to provide skills, knowledge, and education to the leaders of the business to enable them to improve Health & Safety outcomes and culture.

• Experience working in a health and safety role, ideally within manufacturing or heavy industry
• Proven track record of successfully fostering and building a culture of continuous improvement
• Good knowledge of health and safety management systems
• Excellent stakeholder relationship building experience
• A positive and resilient attitude
