The Opal Australian Paper Division is the home of Reflex and is a leading employer in the beautiful Latrobe Valley. With over 850 team members on site, the Maryvale Paper Mill is the largest manufacturing plant in the Opal portfolio.     

The Asset Management Engineer will partner with the Maintenance Managers in implementing asset management, compliance management and engineering standards across the site. You will develop and maintain pressure equipment maintenance strategies, including but not limited to Boilers, Safety Valves, pressure piping and pressure vessels across the Mill.

 

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

 

  • Analyse installed and proposed plant for opportunities to improve its profitability through the optimisation of the installation and/or control of this equipment.
  • Promote Asset lifecycle thinking across the site, including forecasting of asset replacement into the capital plan
  • Provide engineering expertise support to the mill for all pressure equipment.
  • Drive maintenance improvement strategies, including the application of Risk Based Inspection and use of NDT techniques
  • Manage the day to day activities of the 3rd party inspection contractor
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements related to assets and the performance of maintenance
  • Promote and ensure safe work procedures for maintenance jobs

  • Minimum of 8+ years of post-graduate experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Asset Management Engineer.
  • Sound knowledge of computerised Maintenance Management Systems and data bases.
  • Significant experience within heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Pressure equipment Statutory Compliance experience.
  • Trouble-shooting ability and root cause analysis skills.
  • Sound understanding of OHS Legislation and Australian Standards.
