Opal Fibre Packaging Australia delivers end-to-end corrugated cardboard packaging solutions – from design and product testing to full supply chain integration.

We have an exciting opportunity for a trade-qualified individual to join our Opal Packaging & Automation Systems team in a full-time, permanent position. This role will predominantly support multiple sites across the QLD region, helping us deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Other duties for this role include (but are not limited to):

• Maintaining, repairing, and retooling plant and equipment in line with OEM specifications to maximise uptime and safety
• Coordinating contractors and service providers across Opal and customer locations (both on-site and remotely)
• Planning and prioritising work, managing part availability, and ensuring efficient labour utilisation
• Monitoring equipment performance and minimising downtime
• Ensuring all equipment runs to required speed and quality standards
• Liaising with technical and equipment suppliers as needed
• Delivering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services aligned with customer expectations and regulatory compliance

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

• Trade qualification (fitter & machinist or pneumatic experience highly regarded)
• A mechanically-minded individual with strong hands-on skills
• A current, unrestricted driver’s licence – travel across QLD and occasionally interstate is required
• Strong skills in fitting, fabrication, and fault diagnosis
• Experience in preventative maintenance and autonomous problem solving
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• A proactive approach, with strong attention to detail and a focus on customer service
• Experience with basic electrical diagnostics (beneficial but not essential)
• Restricted electrical licence (desirable)
