Discover the Opportunity – Purchasing Specialist

The Purchasing Specialist plays a key role in the successful operations of our WA region within Opal Packaging Plus. It exists to provide structured, timely & commercially sound sourcing and distribution of products that OPP requires. The role will be a key enabler of the business objective to grow and develop its capability.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Manage to completion the full order cycle process for all local requirements incl, Purchase orders, Costing & receipting stock, Payments and Documentation.
  • Develop & maintain relationships with local suppliers and monitor performance.
  • Maintain supplier information incl. new vendors, price changes & delivery dates.
  • Handle customer service tasks as required particularly when requests are outside the standard customer service function.
  • New product/supplier inquires, including sourcing, pricing and samples.
  • Facilitate forecast & demand planning for branch requirement.
  • Resolve quality issues & DIFOT/supply issues.

  • Formal qualifications or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience gained through work experience, in commerce/supply chain/ procurement/business is highly desirable.
  • Experience within procurement function, preferably in traded products sector
  • Experience in logistics (freight, warehousing, etc)
  • Sound commercial acumen, business astuteness and strong understanding of the business, its processes and the environment in which it operates.
  • Strong negotiation skills and success in implementation of outcomes
