Opal Fibre Packaging Australia provides a full service offering in corrugated cardboard box packaging from design and product testing through to supply chain integration. We have an exciting opportunity as our site in Scoresby, Victoria is currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team and lead our engineering and maintenance functions at the site.

As a part of the senior leadership team on site some of the key focus of this role will be:

• Manage the Engineering and Maintenance function to ensure equipment is maintained to perform at optimum levels
• Plan and manage preventive maintenance and breakdowns at the site (conducting root cause analysis to mitigate the risk of recurrence)
• Ensure equipment reliability and uptime through effective maintenance planning and execution
• Setting, overseeing and reporting on KPI’s for relevant areas and using KPIs to track performance and trends
• Contract management of our 3rd party maintenance providers and other site service providers
• Develop the capability of maintenance and engineering team members
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce planned and unplanned downtime and cost of maintenance
• Provide safety leadership across all maintenance & engineering activity at the site
• Ensure cost-effective maintenance operations without compromising safety or quality (this includes management of a significant R&M budget and overseeing capital projects)

For this role we would like you to have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical engineering preferred)
• Previous experience in developing and leading an engineering and maintenance team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of budget management, cost control, financial oversight (including contract management)
• Proven experience leading and managing change within a manufacturing/ production environment
• Experience in leading long-standing teams on a unionised environment (would be highly regarded)
• Experience in using ERP systems (SAP experience would be highly regarded)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
