Discover the Opportunity – Colour and Pre-Press Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Opal Packaging Plus team as a Colour and Pre-Press Specialist located at our Oakleigh manufacturing facility.

The Colour and Pre-Press Specialist is a critical role to support the ongoing management of all high quality print applications (incl: Digital, Litho Offset and high end Flexo) Working as part of the Design Operations Team the role provides services to support the development and creation of artwork briefs, the formatting/assembling of text and graphic elements prior to printing.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Provide technical support and production recommendations both directly to client and in-directly via sales team.
  • Liaise with the sales team for proofing timeline management and artwork proof sign offs.
  • Design development, artwork creation/management and production of a range of artwork for digital/flexo and litho laminate packaging.
  • Responsible for the Digital/Litho/POS Artwork Asset Management within established systems – Pre & Post Production.
  • Responsible for the output and management of both PDF electronic proofs and Epson digital proofs with understanding of EFI digital RIP and contract colour proofing standards.
  • Management and maintenance of studio hardware, consumables and software – with a capability to carry out upgrades and installations.
  • Creation and management of graphic arts assets including modifications to client supplied art.

  • Highly organised and task oriented with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Competent Mac Operator
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Acrobat)
  • Intermediate colour management and file prep skills for digital and offset print production
  • Intermediate understanding of RIP profiles and management
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with fixed deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
