The role of the Operational Buyer is to provide non-strategic buying support across OPAL Australia and New Zealand and partner with Strategic Procurement on Tactical Sourcing activities, while supporting with general administration and customer support.

 

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Lead the development and execution of the agreed strategy for tactical sourcing type initiatives (spend from $100K to $300K) endorsed by Strategic Procurement

  • Work with Opal Sites & Central Procurement to support non-strategic spend activities

  • Support the Optimisation of Opal’s purchasing processes & platforms

  • Support the organisations adherence to the purchasing policy and guidelines

  • Supplier Relationship Management of non-contracted spend

  • Identify areas of opportunity for savings across non contracted and tail spend

  • Support in management of Contract master data & online pricing via Catalogue

  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with internal business stakeholders to enable successful delivery of the agreed sourcing strategy

  • Provide expert, authoritative advice to key stakeholders on all aspects of P2P compliance

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;

  • Business Acumen and commercial savvy

  • Negotiation and influencing skills

  • Experience in analysing spend data with strong excel skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • General understanding of procurement concept & processes

  • Experience with e-procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba advantageous)
