Opal Bag Solutions operates across Australia to provide tailored high performance paper bag and other paper-based packaging solutions. We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest packaging companies in Australia as our Thomastown site is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to come onboard!

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement initiative across the site – with a key focus on quality, safety and efficiency
• Playing a key role in overseeing maintenance and reliability activities (such as planned and unplanned shutdowns)
• Work with cross-functional teams to promote and implement standardization of processes
• Overseeing multiple projects and utilising data analytics to support asset management / work management decisions
• Analyse of manufacturing, works management, asset management, & logistics systems to achieve continuous improvement initiatives

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

• A degree in engineering (mechanical or mechatronics engineering preferred)
• Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing environments
• Strategic agility, resilience and adaptability
• Experience in implementing continuous improvement practices (such as 5S and Six Sigma) in a lean manufacturing environment, would be highly regarded
• Ability to oversee multiple projects at once (and prioritize accordingly)
• Intermediate (or higher) level of Microsoft Suite knowledge
• The ability to work autonomously, as well as collaborate as part of a cross-functional team
