A fantastic opportunity has just arisen for a Production Planner to join the Opal NZ Cartons Packaging team based at our Hornby plant.  This role is critical to ensuring accurate and effective planning across all production on site to deliver outstanding outcomes for our customers.  

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Analysing production & work flows throughout the plant to generate cost effective plans.
  • Analysing data & metrics around machine efficiencies, labour allocation & PIFOT to provide insights and recommendations for  improvements.
  • Collaborating with production/despatch team leaders and customer service to ensure daily plans are implemented and achieved.
  • Participating in daily production meetings with the customer service team & providing feedback on machine performance and customer orders.
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance time with the engineering team to ensure planned machine downtime occurs.
  • Performing analytical reporting as per business requirements, including daily performance and PIFOT reports.
  • Participating in the monthly planning & sales forecast meetings.
  • Undertaking regular material stock takes to ensure the accuracy of the data in conjunction with stores and finance.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;

  • Previous production planning experience within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of 'Just in Time' manufacturing principles
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in SAP and Microsoft excel
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain and communicate complex data and trends
  • The ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-functional team to achieve business objectives.
