We are looking for our next generation of Operational Leaders. The future of manufacturing is here at Opal and our latest opportunity for you to join our team is that of Day Shift Supervisor at our Fibre Packaging division based at Rocklea. 

 

At this site we manufacture an innovative range of corrugated boxes and specialised cardboard packaging for some of the largest brands in the grocery, wine & fresh produce markets. We have approximately 100 team members at this site which is a highly automated, batch manufacturing environment with a high volume SKU count.

 

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for leading our Day Shift crew in the delivery of all safety, quality and production targets in a manner that inspires out-performance and drives continuous improvement.  

 

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Uphold Opal's commitment to safety and drive a culture of safety out-performance across the site
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximise production efficiencies while meeting quality standards, customer and business requirements
  • Identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to improve service, efficiency and quality
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training, and support crew planning to ensure adequate staff and skills mix are available to effectively operate the shift
  • Lead and facilitate tool box talks and crew meetings
  • Manage reporting and oversee administration functions.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity within a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Qualifications in Engineering/Manufacturing or another relevant discipline
  • A strong sense of self-drive and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Previous experience working with LEAN manufacturing principals and best practice problem solving methodology (Kepner/5Whys/Fishbone) etc will be highly regarded
  • A passion for manufacturing and a real ambition to forge a senior Operational Leadership career
