Discover the Opportunity HSE Advisor - SA

Opal Fibre Packaging (OFP) have just opened up a new search for an HSE Advisor in South Australia. This role will be based out of our Athol Park manufacturing site and focus primarily on HSE programs at that site, but also deal with other SA locations as needed.


You’ll be responsible for the implementation of HSE policy, systems and procedures.  This role monitors compliance, ensures recommendations are reviewed and implemented with site management, and provides advice and support in accordance with the relevant workplace Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and Opal standards.


Critical to the role is the ability to provide skills, knowledge and education to the leaders of the business to enable them to improve HSE outcomes and culture.


 You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

  • Improving our operations’ team capability and understanding of HSE management systems through coaching, training and mentoring
  • Providing technical HSE subject matter expertise
  • Providing an assurance capability by monitoring compliance to relevant HSE legislation and Opal standards
  • Monitoring site progress against HSE improvement plans and risk reduction activity
  • Injury management and return to work processes for workers compensation and income protection cases

  • At least 4-5 years in an advisory HSE role, preferably within a manufacturing or similar heavy industry environment
  • Basic Auditing qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Risk management principles, HSE issues, methodologies and practices
  • Sound knowledge of Legislative and other (e.g. Australian Standards) requirements regarding HSE
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Courage and resilience
  • Sound change management skills
  • Previous experience in successful implementation of HSE programs
